Sometimes, even the nice things can be too much. After having awesome social days with lots of fellow travelers, learning about colonial history and walking our feets off in skyrise laden city centres or historic shopping streets full of tourists, we decided to lower the pace and rest the feet and eyes. Also, the cough I had developed over the past days wanted some rest as well.
So, we ditched the plans to take the ferry to Indonesia, and went somewhere, where we knew it would be nice and relaxed, and where we didn't feel obliged to visit all the sites, because we already had done so: back to Georgetown!
And so we did, at least, in part. Because we realised, what we had missed out on our previous visit, so we closed a few gaps here and there. From trying that popular street food stand downtown, to visiting the spice garden with interesting history about the role of spices in colonial times, from the huge Buddhist temple complex with chanting monks and colourful pagodas to the Chinese Clan jetties on the coast, we rediscovered Georgetown again. And we also had cake.
